As mentioned when I started these monthly updates, I’m publishing these new income reports on the last day of each month to get fresh data your way.
Plus, it helps keep me accountable to you…because we all know that I will procrastinate on getting these written up.
Also, I want to remind you that these Ezoic sites of mine are smaller sites, which means these monthly updates should be easier for new site builders to follow along with (as well as those of you who are building sites with limited time).
For April, I’ve got a new site in this report that started showing Ezoic ads on April 1st – how perfect was that?
Note: The sites in this report are only a portion of my portfolio and not the only sites that bring in revenue.
**And as always, I’m an affiliate marketer and this post contains affiliate links, meaning I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my link.
Site 1: Food/Drink Niche
For April, I ended up doing a bit more on this site than in previous months.
I’d set a personal goal to reach 10 new articles published on this site – and I did it!
I ended up doing a mix of info and affiliate articles, all based on keywords that I’d found from a low-authority competitor.
The affiliate content is using high converting Lasso product boxes.
And I used Scalenut (use code FOREVER20 to save 20% after the free trial!) to optimize these articles.
Despite me getting that fresh content up, pretty much everything is down with this site.
So, you might be wondering why I was doing content focused on low-authority competitor rankings.
That because I’m trying to determine wtf is going on with it since changing domains for this site.
Ever since I made the domain change, traffic has been on a downward trend – and with Google algo updates happening all the freaking time, it’s a real challenge to determine the cause of the traffic drop.
My thoughts was to see if this domain can rank for super easy content, cause I figure if it cannot, then the site has gotten hit by an algo update.
Well….the easy peasy content didn’t rank.
With nothing to lose, I decided to YOLO this – remember me mentioning having several aged domains to 301 to this site?
On April 21st I decided to 301 a total of 9 domains…yup, all on the same day.
End result? More daily visits to the site, but lower earnings and EPMV.
And this is happening –
Yeah, I might have just torched this site with my 301 experimenting.
But we also just had another Google algo update, so who knows wtf is going on.
Anyways, if you recall I enabled Humix on this site last month but didn’t upload any videos – instead I’m only earning from other people’s videos that show up on my site.
Here’s how much this site earned via Humix for the month –
Yup, still of the opinion that using Humix without uploading videos isn’t much of a game changer unless you end up with loads of traffic.
As mentioned above, everything is down for this site and that’s disappointing.
Here’s what the overall income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:
- Ezoic: $7.02
- Amazon: $12.12
Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.
Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.
Site 2: Religion/Spirituality Niche
Just like I reported last month, I STILL have not changed the domain for this site like I wanted to do a few months back.
I already have the new domain…so what am I waiting for?
Well, I’m second guessing the change since site #1 had some issues after the domain change.
Google Analytics is showing a 0.6% traffic increase compared to the previous 30 days, so maybe it’s safe to make the switch? I’m still not sure about that.
As with site #1, my personal goal for this site was to get 10 new articles published – and I did!
Though I did not get any new videos published to Humix or the site’s YouTube channel.
Here’s how much this site earned from Humix with the two videos that I uploaded last month –
So, let’s think about these Humix earnings for a moment looking at only the videos I created, which get views on both my site and by sharing them for other Ezoic sites to display.
Looks like pretty even breakdown in plays for the two videos, both on my site and on other Ezoic sites.
And here’s how the Humix earnings breakdown –
Side note: Why does the video revenue in this shot from Big Data Analytics differ from the $0.56 shown on my Humix dashboard? Who the fuck knows?!
Anyways, with this site’s current traffic it looks like I can count on around $0.25/month per video.
What I wonder though is as my site’s traffic grows do the videos also get shown on more “shared” sites or will those earnings remain flat? Like, is this the limit?
Cause if they remain flat, then can I only count on around $0.12/month per uploaded video that displays as “shared?”
This is the point where I should tell you that I obviously didn’t major in math. Just trying to guesstimate when this will be “worth it” in terms of quantity of videos for decent revenue.
Enough about Humix though, let’s get back to the fresh content that I put up on this site.
The content on this site is still part of my AI-assisted content experiment.
Just a quick refresh on that – I get a little from chatGPT, a little from Jasper and then I run it through Quillbot’s Creative setting before editing it myself.
I’m also using the content optimizer feature in Scalenut to tweak things even more.
All in, this is only taking me around 15 minutes to get an article that I can publish – not including popping to Canva to make my featured image.
Since this is an experiment, I’m keeping a close watch on how they’re ranking.
Over the last 30 days, five of these articles are in my top 10 in Google Analytics.
Since December 2022, I’ve only been creating this AI-assisted content for this site and it’s going well.
While I don’t think this is something that you can do in every niche, its pretty much no longer an experiment for this site but just the way that I’m building it.
Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:
- Ezoic: $9.52
- Amazon: $0.00
Oh look, another month with an EPMV drop.
So, traffic is slightly up for the month, but income is down thanks to the EPMV drop.
Even that $0.56 (or is it $0.50?) from Humix didn’t boost the site’s revenue.
Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.
Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.
Site 3: Food/Drink Niche #2
In April, this site seems to have taken a pretty big hit from an algo update.
Despite the hit, I still kept publishing and managed to get up 15 new posts that are a mix of info and affiliate focused content.
And for the affiliate-focused stuff, I tricked them out with those awesome Lasso product boxes.
If you remember last month’s update, then you’ll notice that this site dropped around 50% of its traffic.
Yup, you read that correctly – half of the traffic just poofed.
Digging into Google Analytics shows it’s not just a few posts are responsible for this, yet there’s still posts ranking just fine.
But there does appear to be an influx of shitty backlinks in recent months, so that could be to blame instead of an algo update. Hopefully I remember to do a disavow for those links in May.
Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:
- Ezoic: $12.66
- Amazon: $0.00
It’s worth noting that this site earned more Ezoic monies in April because the EPMV more than doubled.
What’s weird is the top three pages are the same this month and last month, so no idea why the EPMV is up.
Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.
Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.
Site 4: Tech/Gaming Niche
As mentioned last month, my goal was to get 30 new posts up on this site.
I only got up 13 new posts because I did a bit of travel, so I didn’t work as many days in April as expected.
And yes, all posts are tech focused and on informational focused topics as well.
Okay, so real talk – wtf with this EPMV?
And how much longer does this continue before I just remove these ads and try AdSense?
While the top post on this site brings in an embarrassing 42% of the traffic – and it doesn’t bring in primarily tier 1 countries – there is zero excuse for the low EPMV on the tech content.
Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:
- Ezoic: $30.55
- Amazon: $0.00
Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.
Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.
Site 5: Outdoors Niche
My goal for the month was 10 new posts, and that is exactly what I managed to get up.
Only two of those are affiliate-focused posts and those are using those kickass Lasso product boxes that convert so well.
Traffic for this site is down just a bit compared to last month, likely due to a Google algo update.
Despite that, I’m still just publishing content like business as usual.
And I don’t know if the indexing issues are still going on cause I’m just force-indexing in Search Console whenever I publish a new post.
The good news for this site is that the EPMV is actually up from last month.
Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:
- Ezoic: $7.84
- Amazon: $30.04
Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.
Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.
Site 6: Gardening Niche
This is a new site for these monthly updates, with the ads starting on April the 1st.
Prior to adding this site to my Ezoic account, it was running AdSense ads.
With AdSense, the RPM was just over $9.00 and it made around $54 in March with AdSense.
Needless to say, I’m stoked about the RPM/EPMV increase with moving from AdSense to Ezoic.
And of course, that resulted in a hefty increase in ad revenue after leaving AdSense.
As a result, I was hitting this site with content hard – a total of 23 new posts (mix of affiliate and info content).
The affiliate content is using high converting Lasso product boxes.
And I used Scalenut (use code FOREVER20 to save 20% after the free trial!) to optimize these articles.
This site’s traffic essentially doubled from just under 5K sessions to just over 10K sessions – I think that was a result of the big content push.
I’m excited to see how this site continues to grow – would be awesome if I could double the traffic a few more times before I sell this site.
Here’s what the income for the last 30 days looks like for this site:
- Ezoic: $178.73
- Amazon: $2.43
While I love that EPMV, I know that this niche pays a lot more on Mediavine and AdThrive.
Do note that we have one additional day left in the month, so these numbers are almost complete.
Plus, Ezoic balances are not finalized for ending month until the 4th of the following month. Just an FYI.
Looking Ahead
Can you guess what I’m going to do with these sites in May? Yup, fresh content.
I also need to work on a disavow file for site #3.
And I really need to get back to making videos for site #2.
For site #4, I’m considering switching to AdSense for the month and seeing how the ad revenue changes.
If you want more details on how I use Ezoic’s Big Data Analytics to form my content strategies, check out this three-part case study.
And if you’re not yet using Ezoic on your site, then why not sign up and make some sweet internet monies?

Hey, I’m Shawna. I make a living working from my laptop in places like London, Sydney, Dubai, Rome, Oslo, Bangkok, Las Vegas, Barcelona, and Amsterdam. I share how I do some of that on this website.
Shawna, thanks for the reminder to set up Humix.
When I see the performance of your experimental sites, I am sure that this income report makes you more money than they did.
Regarding the gardening site, the push is probably because everyone is looking into gardening stuff right now. Nevertheless, it always helps to put out more content to this hungry mass of people.
Good luck and have a successful month.
Tom
Thanks, Tom!
Hi Shawna,
Couldn’t find the net income for April 2023 on this page. The income looks less from the rough calculation done by me and for the person with your experience. I am sure you have more sites that earn a lot and are not covered over here plus additional online income sources too.
Would explore your site more and thanks for sharing the income report.
