For years, I’ve been building my email list on ConvertKit (now Kit), but when it was time for my renewal payment, I decided to move my list to Beehiiv to check it out.
You see, when I was using ConvertKit (now Kit) I tried to earn some money from it with Sparkloop recommendations. After three months, I didn’t earn a single cent.
And, I never got selected for the Ads program. (Is it even live yet or still in beta?)
Since I’d seen multiple people talking about earning money from Beehiiv Boosts and Beehiiv ads with their newsletter, it was a no-brainer for me to make the move.
How Much I Made from Beehiiv Boosts
I was excited to try Beehiiv Boosts, but less excited by the results.
You can see that in my first month (June 2024), I earned a whopping $5.01 from Beehiiv Boosts.
I ended up leaving Boosts active for a few months to see if it got better (it did not).
And the reason why Beehiiv Boosts suck for monetization is that there seems to be zero transparency on what is a “valid” subscriber, so you don’t get paid for a lot of subscribers you refer with your recommendations.
The image above is YTD numbers, but you can see that the first two Boosts in the chart have a TERRIBLE verification rate. What a scam.
How Much I Made from Beehiiv Ads
Luckily, the Beehiiv Ads program was a better payout for me.
For the month of June, I ran a total of 8 ads in my newsletter and those ads resulted in $217.20 in earnings.
Not bad for a side hustle, huh?
The best part? I’d cleaned my list before moving it to Beehiiv so there were only around 1,500 or so subscribers for those 30 days.
So, imagine how much you can earn with a larger list. Could end up being quite the profitable side hustle.
One thing I did notice about the Beehiiv ads is that their advertisers tend to skew more tech related.
My newsletter targets people making money online as well as people interested in side hustles. So, I’m not sure how many niches can earn good money with a Beehiiv newsletter.
