If this isn’t your first time here, then you’ve seen me talk about using Scalenut for it’s content optimization feature in the past.
Scalenut isn’t just a content optimizer though, and they recently had a major launch (on June 14th) where they released a whole bunch of new features.
And since I haven’t yet done a proper review of this tool, I thought this was a good opportunity to do so while testing out these new features.
So, if you’re looking for a tool that does content optimization, has an AI content writer, and some other stuff, then this review is for you.
**And as always, I’m an affiliate marketer and this post contains affiliate links, meaning I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my link.
What It Is
If this is the first time that you’re ever hearing about this tool, then let me just give you a brief intro to Scalenut.
In their own words, Scalenut automates the entire SEO workflow. Saves 90% of time and delivers 10x organic traffic. The only platform that gets you a powerful SEO strategy, beats your competitors, creates content at scale and decodes search guidelines. Your AI-SEO secret weapon.
For me though, I’ve really only ever used it for content optimization.
With that in mind, I wanted to see what the fuss is all about with these new features to determine if I’m a fool for not using this tool to the max.
Scalenut New Features
With several features to profile, I started going through them to test it out and show you some screenshots + tell you how I feel about it.
Keyword Planner
This feature is designed for bloggers who are all about topic clusters with their content (like me).
I thought I would go super meta here and put in “topic clusters” for my keyword to see what it would bring up.
The report creation time is really fast, which is nice. Nothing worse than using an SEO tool that takes forever.
For less niched down keywords, you end up with a lot more clusters but there’s just six for this one.
You can click to expand any of those clusters to see the keywords in that specific cluster.
And from there, you just select keywords that you wanna keep and click to create your SEO article.
From there your article gets created in the Article Writer part of the tool.
You’ll notice now that this is starting to look a lot like what you’d see with Surfer or Frase.
After selecting a title, you just move on to have it create the outline for you.
Honestly, this tool created a pretty impressive outline with one click.
You can even check out the outlines of the top ranking pages to see if there’s anything you wanna add to your current outline.
From there, you click to have it generate the writing points for the AI (or I guess if you wanna give it to your writer).
It seems to generate a pretty good writing points bullet list for each section.
Though I was curious how it would pull off the Free Content Cluster Template section.
The first draft wasn’t bad, though I could see a few sections that would definitely need editing.
And you can see in the lower right corner of that screenshot that it didn’t quite manage to reach the target word count range.
Now to work on it in the editor.
Overall, this was a pretty quick process from Keyword Planner to editing the first draft- and the AI created a mostly usable first draft.
Of course, it helped that I picked something (topic clusters) that I was super familiar with already.
Content Optimizer
Okay, so this is the part of the tool that I am the most familiar with – you just enter the URL of an already published article and the keyword you wanna rank for and wait for the optimization tips.
I don’t really create content on this blog with a focus on ranking, so I used one of my own articles here to take this part of the tool for a test drive.
Okay, so Ahrefs tells me that I’m ranking #30 for “youtube automation how to start” as of six days ago.
So, that’s what I decided to optimize.
Looks like I only have a SEO score of 75 for that one before getting started.
One of the first things that I notice is that I seem to have missed including some of the key terms that other ranking sites are using in their posts.
Adding just one of those key terms took my SEO score up to 81.
Essentially all that I ended up doing for the optimization of this article was bolding some stuff and using more of those key terms.
When I stopped editing the SEO score for this article was sitting at 84.
Other Features
There are some other cool new things with Scalenut that I haven’t touched on yet.
Cruise Mode
This is what they call it when that first draft gets published a SEO score of at least 70.
This happens when you’re using the Content Writer and have it create your first draft.
So, it’s not a button called “Cruise Mode” or anything like that.
If you scroll up to my screenshots of the First Draft, you can see it labeled as Cruise Mode.
Brand Tone
This is something that I haven’t really played around with much yet, but it seems pretty cool.
It’s basically a way for you to select a specific tone of voice for the AI content that you’re creating in Scalenut.
You can even give it some text for it to analyze so that you can create your own custom Tone of Voice(s).
I think that ability for custom tones is the best part of this new feature.
Auto-Optimization
This one seems pretty interesting because it seems to speed up content optimization.
A few clicks and your content is auto-optimized with Scalenut’s Fix-it technology.
You can do this with both old and new content.
So that kinda makes manual optimization is a thing of the past.
Final Word
Overall, I think these new features have made Scalenut a bit more valuable for me – and I already thought it was already a better value than Surfer or Frase.
Prior to this, I didn’t see a lot of value outside of the content optimization feature.
It also seems like their AI content writer has gotten better with this update – that’s thanks to the new Cruise Mode.
